Amy decided it was best not to venture into the strange shop without understanding exactly what the shop was. If the rumors were true, then this place could grant her wildest desires. On the other hand, she had seen enough science fiction to know that fools who rush in are easily cursed. Amy decided to take a chance on waking the old man for some insight. After all, he worked there, didn't he? He shouldn't be too angry if she bothered him.
"Excuse me? Sir?" she said in a testily soft voice. He continued to snore, but his eyes clenched for a second. Amy tried again, louder this time. The man awoke with a loud snort. He snatched up the book he was leaning on and held it close to his chest with both arms. Amy saw the sleeves of his robes were dusty, and wondered exactly how long he had been sitting there.
The man relaxed as he saw the girl who had awoken him. "Yes?"
"I'm sorry to bother you," Amy said meekly at his stare.
"Oh, it's perfectly all right," he replied sleepily. "I shouldn't be dozing off anyway, but we rarely get any visitors." He put the book back down, which caused a small cloud of dust to fly into the air. Amy sneezed.
"Yes, I should really spend more time tidying up and less time dreaming about lost loves," he stated. "Now, what can I help you with young lady?"
