If you jump in front of John or tackle him, the spell would most likely just kill you. However John originally owned one of the books, if he learned aboout countering spells, he may be able to defend himself.
Not seeing any other choice, you quickly throw John the Book of Body.
And, nail him right in the head....
The impact knocks John out, but at least the spell Raxi had thrown missed. However, this tactic also left you with on less book, and one ally down.
Raxi doesn't waist any time though, and fires off another spell, this time right at you. "Destruction!"
You quickly open a book, trying to find a spell to counter with, when Ruby leaps right in front of you.
"Counter!" She shouts, as a shield appears around her for a brief moment, and Raxi's spell is sent right back at him.
"False!" Raxi shouts, quickly casting a spell to nullify the spell reflected at him.
Ruby hadn't managed to defeat him, but at least she had saved you. It was actually starting to bug you that she kept saving your tail in battle. After all, you were the one Saphira gave a book too and sent to find the others. She was most likely just some girl who had come across one of the books, and somehow mastered it a lot faster than you. It just bugs you as well as feels wrong.
"Hey! Stop daydreaming we're in a fight!" Ruby shouts at you. "Listen, no matter what we do we're not going to get this guy just throwing spells aimlessly. We need to use a bit of strategy. Listen, take the Book of Time, and get ready to cast Decay. I'm going to cast an arcane spell. Get directly behind him, and we'll cast the spells at the exact same time, he won't be able to coutner both."
Nodding, you quickly pull out the Book of Time, and try to run behind Raxi. Luckily, your inhuman speed spells allows you to stay ahead of the spells he's casting at you.
"Do you plan to run away?" Raxi asks. "Or will you fight me sometime today?"
"Now!" Ruby shouts, before pointing at Raxi and shouting "Fire!"
"Decay!" You shout, sending your own spell a Raxi. This was perfect, he would only be able to counter one, and the other would hit!
"Barrier!" Raxi suddenly shouts, as a glowing light appears around him momentarily nullifying both spells fired at him. "Did you people not listen to a word I said? I am from the other world. I can use magic other than that in these books, and they serve only to boost my current power. Do you think I would fight you all at once, had I no way to negate them?"
"Damn it." Ruby swears. "I thought we had him."
Raxi. "My, my, such language from a lady. You know, had you not sought to oppose me, I could have arranged a special place for you in my life young lady."
"Great, the villain is a lecher." Ruby mutters, then shouts "Lightning!" Letting loose a lightning bolt at Raxi, who creates a simple counter spell to negate it.
"Feisty aren't we?" Raxi asks in a mocking manner.
You realize, this may be a chance, as Raxi is distracted by Ruby. You may not have an opening like this again. However, how to use this chance....
