Although much has changed to the Island over the years, the ferries still scour the cities and suburbs with the allure of liberation and abandon for adolescents world-wide. This year is no different.
Michael is 13, and has been waiting all summer for a chance to visit the Island with his friends. Word has always been that a trip to Pleasure Island is a sort of coming of age -- a rite of passage for boys just before the start of high school.
The ferry lands, and Michael looks around. He and his friends Jeremy and Zach step off the landing plank and look around, starved for a snack.
