The sound of birds chirping wakes you up the next morning. You open your eyes and see the sun still low in the sky, it's still early. You stand up and stretch, working the kinks out of your muscles. A sudden realization hits you, you're alone! Samantha is nowhere to be found. You look around in fear, did she wander off during the night?, did an animal drag her away? You nearly call out to her when you hear laughter behind you.
"Looking for me", she asks playfully.
Trying to act calm, you respond, "Kinda, I mean, I woke up and you were gone... What's that?" You see her carrying something in her hands.
"Breakfast. We need to have energy for our long hike today." She reveals that she has been gathering berries.
"Are you sure they're not poisonous?", you ask.
"I've been camping since I was five," she answers, "Not the fancy RV park with all the hook-ups, but actually roughing it and foraging. I know my berries."
Sam had been busy, she gives you a sizable pile of the blue and red berries. "I thought that you might need a lot", she explains, "you're a lot bigger than I am. And if you're thirsty, there's a spring over there," she motions.
You think to yourself, "This is interesting, I thought I'd get us back to town, but she's the one guiding me."
After he meal, you go to drink from the spring. You look into the water and once again see your bovine face reflected back in the water. "Maybe this won't be so bad," you say to yourself, "I found one person who didn't freak out... too much, when she saw me. I'm sure others will understand."
In a short while, the two of you are ready to start the hike.
