Your hunger sated for now, the two of you begin the long hike home. You estimate that you traveled about three miles between being warped out of the maze and where you found Sam's crash site, that leaves nearly seven miles to go till you get to town.
You have to walk slowly so she can keep up with you, your long legs would quickly out pace her at normal stride. As the two of you walk, you strike up a conversation. You ask her more about why she took the ill-fated car trip. She again explains that she wanted to visit her friend who moved to your town recently, a history major who was researching strange folklore. She believed that certain artifacts found across the globe told of magical locations, places of great arcane power. She moved to your town because she believed that one of the magical areas would be found there.
You wonder if the park where your adventure began is a part of this. You never knew that mansion existed in the first place, and its interior defied logic. The labyrinth and the minotaur's words further convince you of the area's nature.
Sam seems to be on the same train of thought, "If that park held the portal, then she may be right after all. Her professors always told her that her ideas were foolish, ramblings of madmen from across the ages. But seeing you, a man turned into a minotaur, will prove her right."
"Whoa, hold on. I don't want anyone else to know what happened to me", you begin in protest. "I don't want to be a science experiment and dissected. I just want to go home and find a way to undo this transformation."
"But my friend can help you, at least she can explain to others what happened to you," Sam responds. "You will prove her research correct, you could both become famous!"
You turn angrily to face her, "I don't want to be famous this way! In case you haven't noticed, I'm a monster. People won't see me as a person, just a threat. At best, your friend can make me into a research project and stick me in a lab."
Sam looks at you with sorrow in her eyes, "I'm... I'm so sorry. I didn't think about that. What if... What if she can find the labyrinth again and find some way to change you back. She can prove her research was correct and you'll never have to show the world your horned head. I want to help you the way you helped me, if you don't want everyone to know you're a minotaur, then I'll help keep it secret."
Your anger diminishes, "I'm sorry I over-reacted. It's just a little stressful being this way. If she can keep my secret, then I'll help the both of you on this project. Maybe she will find a way to turn me back into a human."
Changing the conversation to something less weighty, the two of you continue your hike.
