Nick was rumaging through his DVDs, copies of Star Trek TOS, various anime, Star Wars, and other movies and series flying out onto the living room carpet as he did so. As he did so, Suzanne took the time to scratch her feet, making a mental note that she could now clearly feel the hairs growing in, and even see a shadow of sorts covering her entire foot!
"Found 'em!" Nick cried, hastily climbing to his feet. He pratically galloped back to Suzanne and thrust the first volume in her face.
She looked at the DVD, her heart sinking when she saw the running time. Nick was very enthused, and, just as quickly as he had handed it to her, took back the DVD and got it set up on the TV before rushing off to make popcorn.
"Make yourself comfy!" he called as he slipped through a narrow passage into the kitchen.
Suzanne crawled into Nick's rather large sofa, allowing her feet to rest on what she could only describe as the most comfortable cushion she had seen. She half wondered what it looked it; a short, chunky lady with large, hairy feet sitting on a couch that looked like it belonged to a king.
What really had caught her eye, however, was the large TV and surround sound. It had to be at least 40", and there were speakers hanging from every corner of the room in addition to the two large ones on either side of the television. Nick really did have it good, Suzanne thought. And here she thought he was a simple nerd...
On that massive screen, the DVD menu played tirelessly, every sound excentuated by the surrounding speakers, providing a crystal clear sound that Suzanne was certain could be heard from anywhere in the house.
In a few mintues, Nick returned with two bags of popcorn fresh out of the microwave. He made himself quite cozy on the opposite side of the sofa and let the DVD roll.
The movie started out okay, Suzanne thought, with a bunch of Elves and Men trying to destroy Sauron, who could take out like 15 guys with one blow. When it got to the hobbits, she felt a little ashamed and embarrassed, but was soon caught up in the plight the characters faced.
The movie went on and on. It would have been okay if Suzanne could keep comfortable. However, as it was, she was constantly shifting on the sofa. She tried to sit up, but her feet barely touched the floor, which she didn't like so well. She eventually settled for leaning against the arm of the couch and stretching her legs out on the sofa. She had thought that her giant feet would wind up kicking Nick, but to her great surprise they didn't even come near him! She panicked a bit, but decided to let it go, not knowing whether this was a new change, or if they had been like that ever since she stepped into his house and she just hadn't noticed it.
A quick scrutiny during one of the slower parts of the film told her that she had, indeed, shrunk a bit. Her clothes were definately looser on her body, and she had to keep pulling the shoulders up. Her biggest fear now was standing up and having her pants and undergarments drop to the floor.
Nick was quite absorbed in the film - he'd already cried once - and she was able to make minor adjustments to her clothing without catching his eye. "Thank God for geeks," she thought to herself.
