Odette's heart was pounding madly in her chest. The excitement was so powerful that she was almost incapable of focusing on the fact that she had invoked the change. What to change? Everything or something small? What did she want to do right now?
Calming down a little, Odette decided to try something small. Leaning across the counter she thought about her nose. She did not like how her nose turned up like that at the tip. She always felt it made her look piggish. She thought about how she wished her nose could look. Straighter and a little less projected. She felt her nose go a little numb and her reflection shifted. Her nose was just the way she wanted it. All she had to do was focus on the word 'nose' and feel how she wanted it different and it changed.
She stroked her nose and felt how different it had become. The numbness was gone and her nose felt exactly the same as it had before. But its shape was changed, painlessly and fixedly. There was no strain for the changes to undo itself and return to normal. Odette thought about saying his name one more time and stopping here. Her nose would be fine until went to sleep tonight. She was tired and it was very late. She still had to get Jimmy to leave.
Jimmy!
How long had she been in this bathroom talking with Loki? Quickly she slipped the night shirt she had brought into the bathroom over her head and opened the door. Just a crack, she wanted to see if her friends had come back yet.
"Jimmy?" she called.
"Yeah?" he answered from the main room. She heard the bedding rustle as he stood.
"Are you still here?"
"Did you want me to leave?" His voice was calm but a little scared. Only a few minutes ago she had stormed into the bathroom ready to tear him apart.
"No! Ahh ..." Odette thought quickly. She did not want Jimmy to see her yet but she had roused his interest. She heard him coming toward the bathroom and thought fast. "Can you grab my dress when I hand it out to you and hang it up?" Odette tried to act normal. She tried to hide her nose behind the dress as she held it out of the bathroom. She felt her face go numb again as Jimmy took the dress.
"Thanks," she said peeping around the door. Their eyes locked for a moment before his eyes seemed to drift. Following his gaze, Odette found her topless form was visible. She closed the door again.
Looking again in the mirror Odette found her normal face once again. She changed her nose. Then wondered what else she was willing to change. She focused on her legs and thought to make them longer. To her surprise her legs turned numb and then stretched. Inches were added to her thighs and shins. Looking down she saw the floor move away. Amazed, she flexed and lifted her legs. Long legs that went all the way down. Bending over she found her face short of her knees. Odette forced herself to return to normal. "Loki," she said, "thank you."
Dressing quickly she left the bathroom to kick Jimmy out before her friends got back.
