The hunger and the smell of the delicious roast beef is just too much for you. You ignore the voice’s warnings. You just have to have that roast beef. You begin to walk towards the plate with awkward steps. You feel that it would definitely be easier to get down on all fours and walk to the plate. But that distant voice in your head tells you that you shouldn’t do that even though it is kind of tempting.
“Why doesn’t she walk on all fours? Something is wrong… maybe she still can think as a human?” Steve says with worry in his voice as he watches the dogs every step. “You have to give it time Steve, have you totally forgotten how it was the first day the Alsatian came here? He walk on two legs at first, but then he suddenly fell over onto all fours. I don’t remember how long it took, but it took at least 15-20 minutes” Edna answers calmly without even taking her eyes off the Border Collie. “Now watch her and see how she eat the roast beef…hopefully she will have to get down on all fours to reach the food”
You stand in front of the plate and look down at the juicy raw roast beef. You lick yourself around your mouth as you reach out right hand (paw?) to grab some roast beef. But as you notice that your arm just isn’t long enough you try to lean yourself forward. As your weight becomes more concentrated forward your legs doesn’t have the balance to keep you upright, you fall forward and your hand/paws touch the ground.
You tail begins to wag violently and your tongue begins to hang out of your mouth as you notice that the tasty meat is now in reach for you. You suddenly realise why those words were so important, they mean “Food”!. You look up at the two other dogs with a happy expression on your canine face. “Lady room!” your bark out again, happy that you have find the meaning of the word. Then you begin to munch on the meat.
The couple look at each other. “Do you see that Steve? She haven’t got a clue what she’s saying and she don’t understand what we’re saying either. She will be a complete dog before 24 hours have passed”
