In a quiet corner of the United States there's a special private school called Danton Academy. This school has students and staff from all over the world. The students and staff refer to it by another name though. They call it Shapeshifter Academy. This is because the students and staff have a particular ability, the ability to change their shape. Each student has come to learn how to control their ability.
No one knows that they have this ability until their first shift which leaves them with a new form. Sometimes the shift happens in their sleep and other times it happens while they're awake. Some people transform slowly lasting as long as a few minutes while others are rapid being almost instantaneous and then there are those that are in between. Some people experience great pain during their shifts while others don't feel anything except maybe a little tingling or a numbness and of course there are those in between. There are some who can only do partial shifts and can only shift into one other form. Then there are those that shift completely and into multiple forms. There are those that can shift their age and/or sex and even some who can shift into inanimate objects. There is a wide variety of shifts at the school. There are a couple things all shifters have in common. Their clothes don't shift with them and they can't be killed except by old age or a virus.
The rules of the school are as follows;
1. YOU MUST STAY WITHIN SCHOOL GROUNDS IF YOU HAVE NOT LEARNED HOW TO CONTROL YOUR SHIFTS
2. YOU WILL NOT SHIFT INTO THE OPPOSITE SEX TO GET INTO THE LOCKER ROOMS
3. THERE WILL BE NO FIGHTING
4. THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO RULE THREE IS DURING ACTIVITIES LIKE BOXING AND WRESTLING
5. SINCE THERE ARE THOSE THAT EAT LIVE PREY IT IS PERMISSIBLE TO HUNT THE STAFF AND STUDENTS ON SCHOOL GROUNDS BUT HUNTING OUTSIDE OF SCHOOL GROUNDS IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED
6. STEALING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
7. CHEATING WILL NOT BE TOLERATED
8. SEX IS PERMISSIBLE ONLY BETWEEN TWO CONSENTING STUDENTS OVER SIXTEEN
When a new student arrives they are placed in one of three houses. They are Ghosts, Shadows, and Sparks. Any rule breaking will cost your house points.
Once someone becomes a shapeshifter a staff member from the school usually arrives in a few days to offer a place at the school. They also help to create a new identity for them. Now there's a new student coming to the Danton Academy but who is it?
