Kat laughed and then said, "That's right my little piggy and if you don't want to end up as bacon, you'll do what I say." A pause and then, "The first thing I want you to do is to meet your new owner. She should be along any minute now." And the laughing a bit more, Kat stepped to the side and turned invisible.
Near panic, Dan attempts to call out to her sister, demanding that she come back, but all that escapes her mouth are the grunts, squeals and oinks of a pig. Distraught, Dan began to pace back and forth, eyeing the place where Kat was hiding, thinking of ways to get out of this situation, which wasn't easy because the mind of the pig kept trying to take over. A banging noise and turning toward the sound, Dan watched as a farm girl came over to the pen, banging on a pail of what appeared to be slops.
Salivating, and completely forgetting herself, Dan raced toward the prospect of a meal of slops and as she plunged her snout into the trough and began to eat, the girl told her, "Yes. Eat up girl. Soon you'll be big enough to produce us a nice litter of piglets."
Horrified, Dan let out a grunt and pushed away from the slops. Watching the girl walk toward a barn, Dan let out a distressed grunt and started pacing again. Off to her left, the air shimmered and Kat appeared, this time with Jen. Looking at Dan, Kat commented, "It's too bad it didn't work out as a dog."
Laughing, Jen nodded and replied, "Yeah. I was really looking forward to having puppies."
Grunting and oinking, Dan tried to get the two girls to listen to her, but all she got in response was Kat saying, "We can't speak pig. If you weren't such an animal, then it might be different." and then Jen explaining, "Yeah. Oh and if you be good, we might be persuaded to turn you into a mare so we can ride you."
Horrified at what was happening, Dan turned and ran across the pen and through a door into the barn, which contained yet another pen. Lying down on the hay, Dan wanted to weep, but was disappointed yet again, this time by the fact that he didn't have tear ducts.
Outside, Jen and Kat called out, "Be good and we'll come and visit you some time," and then vanished. Alone, Dan was lost in a mire of swine thoughts mixed with human thoughts that barely poked through the swirl of thoughts that now made up her sow mind. Struggling up, Dan plodded sadly out and then after a moment, went to finish the slops.
As she ate, she became aware of a dog flitting about outside the pen, moving in erratic movements, almost as if it didn't want to be seen. After a moment, it crawled up to the fence and did the most amazing this Dan had seen so far....it spoke in the human tongue.
Listening, Dan heard the dog tell him, "I know who you really are. You are like me...cursed into an animal form by your sister." and then as if sensing Dan was about to say something, which she was, the dog hastily told her, "Don't say anything. I understand completely because, at one time, I was Jen's brother. Cursed into the form of first Daisy and then Duke. All for the mere entertainment of my sister and your sister."
Taken aback, Dan thought back, but couldn't remember Jen ever having a brother. As if sensing this hesitation, the dog explained, "You don't remember because of my sister's magick. The same reason why nobody remembers you. Because of your sister’s magick."
Nodding at this, Dan listened even more carefully as the dog explained, "I have an idea of how to take revenge. But we are going to need a few more things before we can proceed. If you are interested, meet me along this side of the pen tonight after everyone had gone to sleep inside the house." and then, without waiting to see what Dan's response would be, the dog crept away, leaving Dan with his thoughts.
Finishing her slops, Dan trudged back into the barn, wondering what she should do.
