With Ty's help many cities and towns took shape once more, and as everyone was allowed to return to their lives Ty found himself quickly forgotten. He was not praised, but seen as a savage and tempermental man-god; no one seemed to realize that he had in fact saved mankind from dying out in a slow and agonizing extinction. He had saved the resources of the earth for future generations, he thought, but there was no glory lauded on him. He retired from the public eye to a great fortress he had raised for himself from the desert, where he lived in solitude for a time.
One day while riminiscing he thought of the one friend he had ever really known. She was a beautiful collie-mix that he remembered from childhood, the pet of one of his previous foster families. As he sat on a throne formed of stone and thought of this, he felt something lick his hand. When he saw that it was her, the very dog that he remembered, he was elated. Without even trying he had summoned her here, just as he remembered her from so many years ago. Seeing the loyalty in her eyes he wondered if there were a more faithful companion to be had anywhere.
Ty crouched low, and took his pet between his arms. He resolved that he would change her, to give her the intelligence and voice of a human, without taking away her natural grace and instincts. With the sight of his wish taking form in his mind he watched his pet as she stood up on her hind legs, her body becoming more like that of a human woman, though still covered with thick, soft fur. Long brown hair the color of her fur sprouted from her head, and as her changes were complete she smiled and spoke, "Ty, thank you... for this gift."
Ty was a bit confused, but then he understood; he had given her the power to speak, and with it a certain intuition to understand the events unfolding around her. He felt satisfied as she studied her body with content. He too was happy with the result, she was absolutely beautiful, and she would be loyal and protective of him. He was already certain that he would create more of her kind to serve him in place of humans, whom he was now growing to hate.
"Norah..." Ty trailed off as he said her name, it's been so long since I've seen you, and never have I seen you like THIS..." he said, his eyes wandering down her body. "I've missed you."
The two friends reunited, it was left to Ty to decide what they should do.
