To preoccupied with what is happening, you barely hear the coach announce that today is track and field and that the school needs some sort of performance test to make sure you are in proper shape. Several kids grown, but you barely notice as you hug yourself, wondering what's wrong with you.
PE passes slowly and without giving it much thought, you engage in all the activities that coach has you, and the rest of class, doing.
Near the end of PE, the coach blows his whistle and bringing you all in a circle around him, announces, "The final of gym class will be a run around the track. I will be timing you and noting how far you got before you stopped. The total length of the track is about two miles. On my..."
What the rest of the message was is lost on you as you suddenly realise that something looks off. Peering around without moving your head, you try to put your finger on it.
"Are you even listening to me," the couch suddenly bursts out and realising that he is talking to you, you nod in response.
Glaring at you, the coach turns away and starts to line up the class on the starting line. Following his instructions, you peer at the rest of the class, thinking, "It can't be that. Can it?"
Before you can dwell to much on it, the coach blows his whistle and you are off running. The wind blowing on your face, blowing your long hair back, you enjoy the feeling and slowly fall into a steady pace and you move around the first corner, thinking of only completing.
As you pull around the last corner, feeling slightly winded but not wanting to give up, it dawns on you that what has changed over the class period is your height again. And thinking about, you slowly come to the conclusion that, if you had to guess, you would swear that you now stand about five foot two.
A whistle blows and the coach is congratulating you on being one of the few people to make the entire track and after a moment, he tells you, "You should consider track," to which you nod and tell him you'll think about it.
Coach blows his whistle again and cries out, "Hit the showers," and glad that PE is finally over, you wonder if maybe you should check the mirror before going to your next class.
Following the class into the showers, you happen to glance down and nearly stop as you take in the fact that only are your legs different in appearance, but so are your clothes. Pondering over this, you grab two towels and stripping, you wrap one around your body as you wonder what it is that is happening and what about your legs and clothes that looks so different.
