Emily glanced at the clock on her nightstand. It was nearly 3pm! She had slept away almost the entire day already. Perhaps her body needed rest to prepare her for the coming change, forming her into something different. Her sudden overnight change in height and the longer hair on her head stood as testament to her theory.
After getting dressed in her now ill-fitting clothes, Emily took a deep breath and tried to mentally steel herself for dealing with whatever awaited her outside her door. She listened intently, her pointed ear pressed against the door, twitching, trying to make out any sounds of Cara mulling about. She heard nothing. Maybe she was still sleeping, Emily hoped. Perhaps she could just avoid the issue until Sunday's full moon and just let nature take its course and deal with it then. Confrontation was definitely not Emily's strong suit.
Finally, Emily worked up the courage to slowly open her bedroom door and peek out. So far so good. She then tentatively left the safety of her room and walked into the common area of the apartment. She saw that Cara's door was already open.
"Cara...?" She quietly called out. No reply. Hmm. Just then her stomach rumbled angrily and she realized she was starving. As she made her way towards the refrigerator, she could already read the note from Cara stuck to it:
Hey sleepy head! Went to the salon to get pretty again. Guess I've been letting myself go lately. Sorry I ate the rest of the pork chops but I left you some ham. Will go to the market on the way back.
Love ya!
Emily was amazed at her luck. A little grumpy though that the pork chops she had her mind set on were gone though. Having two werewolves in the house was definitely going to run up the meat bill, that's for sure.
After eating the last of the less-than-appetizing processed ham, Cara flopped on the couch and turned on the TV for distraction. Her mind, though, was busy iterating through all the various scenarios she might go through with Cara in the coming hours before, and especially during, the full moon. What should she say? Hey remember that flower I brought home? Well I bought that for me to become a werewolf because I've always loved them. Oh and hey, since you touched it now you're one too. Sorry! Or what about: hey, you might have noticed that we're both sprouting fur and fangs and howling at the full moon now. Don't worry, it'll grow on you. Sorry about all the extra shaving! Bleh. Suddenly, the scene from the movie Teen Wolf popped into Emily's head where, after unexpectedly transforming, Scott opens the door to see his dad changed as well. Hilarity ensued. Only Cara was Michael J. Fox and She was the dad. It brought a bittersweet smile to her face.
Her thoughts suddenly turned to Leigh and she jumped up from the couch in excitement. Leigh! Maybe she has some advice. In no time, Emily was at Leigh and Veronica's door across the hall knocking rapidly. As Emily stood waiting, she noticed that the wet dog-ish, canine smell coming from behind their door the night before had grown very faint. So much for that idea.
