Cally sat at her desk, her eyelids drooping as she trolled lazily through the internet researching sources
for a term paper. It was the boring culmination of an equally boring weekend spent alone in her dorm, itself
the culmination of an equally boring life. Everyone always thinks that nothing interesting ever happens to
them, but for Cally this was quite honestly true. Reflecting on her life, Cally found some amusement in the
cliches of her existence. Small town girl, at a small college in her hometown, never been more than a few
hours from home. At least she didn't live with her parents, Cally mused.
Even Cally herself was boring. Not unattractive, just boring. Brown hair, brown eyes, average height and
build, average size breasts, nothing to make her stand out. Unadventurous, shy even, it was no surprise, even
to Cally, that she spent most of her time alone. So when an ad flashed on her screen offering to change her
life, Cally's eyes perked up slightly.
It was probably fake.
Heck, could an ad advertising the Complete Transformation Package from two companies she'd never even heard
of possibly not be fake.
But she had nothing to lose so she mustered up every adventurous fiber in her body and clicked on the ad.
Entering in her payment information, Cally saw a box offering free rush delivery, and checked it. Thinking
that this was probably the worst idea she'd ever had and that she was probably pathetic for even considering
this, she placed her order.
That was when she heard a knock at her door.
Walking to her door, thinking it was probably someone with the wrong room number just like it was every
other time, Cally opened it and looked outside. There, just outside her dorm was a large brown package marked
"Rush" addressed to her from Spells R' Us and IBM. Cally wondered if maybe there was something to the ad, or
if this was just an elaborate prank and a camera crew and annoying host were about to jump out at her. Warily
Cally took the package inside and opened it to inspect the contents.
There really wasn't much in it. It all seemed like old junk. Two rings, an old watch, a matched pair of
necklaces, a medallion, a cd, an old remote and a test tube filled with a liquid that kept changing color.
Sighing at her naivete she was about to just throw the entire box in the garbage when a small booklet buried
underneath caught her eye. On it was printed the words "Instructions: Read Carefully". Picking up the book she
skimmed it for clues as to what she had just purchased. Inside were sections for each of the "artifacts" each
with instruction pertaining to their use and abilities.
"What the hell." Cally muttered. Picking up on of the artifacts Cally flipped to the section in the
instructions describing it and prepared to give it a try.
"What to try first", Cally thought to herself.
