"Besides," Pink Cat said simply, "You should have realized by now you're not really Steve."
"WHAT?!" Blue Vixen responded in confusion.
"You are the Magno that absorbed his body and memories and persona. Your parents aren't who you think they are. Your mother is actually
White Bat. Your father is one of her mates. We don't technically -need- to mate with multiple males to be fertile, but since we need to mate
six times to build up enough genetic material anyway, we figure we might as well mix and match to get the most genetic variety." Pink Cat
knew that each new Magni technically belonged to the entire next, not just the female who happened to lay their Magno, but Pink Cat felt
there were some elements of human culture that weren't so bad.
"I've talked about it with the others," Pink Cat said. She had had plenty of time on her hands to learn about her species' history being acting
co-matriarch of the nest with Pink Skunk from their long talks with Compy.
"It seems that the age of the body that the Magi has when they're born is directly related to the age of the host that's used for the Magno. A
new born used would create a newborn bodied Magi, and a elderly human would create a body that looked similar. However, in terms of
muscle strength it's all cosmetic really. The snails are just animals that can't really survive on their own. A Snail Queen is with T-Rex back at
the main nest, we didn't bring any snail eggs with us since they'd die in direct sunlight."
"Why are you telling me all this?" Blue Vixen asked confused.
"Because I felt it made a good distraction as your instincts took hold without you noticing. You know what your purpose in life is right?"
"I . . . my purpose? My purpose is to hunt and to breed. For the greater good of our nest." Blue Vixen said surprised but unable to deny the
truth of them.
Pink Cat hugged her, her breasts pushing together, "Come along sister. Just follow the scene to the orientation chamber, it's to help you get
used to your new sense of smell."
Blue Vixen just nodded and did as she was told.
She was the only one there of course, there being no other newborns yet, but Pink Cat followed, and Compy treated the entire affair officially
and formally like it was any orientation.
Immediately after Blue Vixen on her own, sounding surprised at her own eagerness to spill the beans, she told everything she remembered
about her past life as Steve related to her brave if misguided attempt.
While some men in black suits and sunglasses (who not the Men In Black from the movies from the simple fact they didn't erase Steve's
memories and were thus just 'normal' government agents), did show some passing interest in Steve's claims, many thought he was insane
and had barely escaped being put in a mental ward. However, a few other witnesses had begun to pile up, a number had been part of the
Steve's 'assault team.'
T-Rex's mass kidnappings at night -had- been noticed. This was combined with Purple Wolf and Red Panther whose human selves had gone
missing in the woods months before right after a powerful Earthquake that had freed T-Rex, Compy, their personal guard, the last Snail
Queen, and several still waiting Magno eggs.
Blue Vixen said so far the army hadn't been called in, nor the national guard, but a curfew was in effect, and police from other areas had
been called in.
The Pinks and Compy didn't like the sound of this. This was going to make collecting new humans by surprise much harder.
That was when Blue Vixen did the insane and dared to try to enter Compy Chamber only to nearly get herself bitten in two by Compy's
guards (a small group of 'raptors).
Blue Vixen then said, "Elder Compy, if the Spirits permit," The spiritual truth that Magi held to overrode any other spiritual truth that their
former selves had held to in life. "I wish to speak frankly."
Compy dared step out of her chamber, her rubber scale shinning, "Permission granted Newborn Blue Vixen."
"If the humans become too scared of us. Or realize we exist. What is to keep them from dropping an atom bomb on our heads if we become
that dangerous to them? I doubt even we can survive an atomic fireball at ground zero."
The Pinks then had to explain to Compy what an 'At-Tom' was, what a 'Boo-Om' was, and exactly what those words meant together.
Compy looked shocked and horrified.
"And humans would use these readily?"
"Not readily Elder, but if backed into a corner and thinking there was no other way to win they would."
Compy settled not looking happy, "This is disturbing news."
The Pinks looked at each other, they had been focused on establishing the nest, they hadn't been thinking about their long term goals of
assimilating humanity.
