Jake went about his own business in the pool. Kyle had no idea what he was doing, but Kevin kept encouraging him. After a few minutes, Kevin could tell that Kyle was getting bored. He splashed him a tiny bit to get his attention, "Hey, want to float?" Kyle gave him a funny look, "On the floaty I mean..." Kyle shrugged, so Kevin took it as a yes. It was one of the mattress kinds, so they had a hard time getting on. However, once they had, they just floated around the pool.
Time seemed to stop at that point. Kyle had his eyes, and let his hand dipped in the water. He was enjoying the warm sun beating down on his body and for a moment he forgot all about the chain and everything that went with it. He could feel another arm across his tummy. He opened one eye and looked over to see it was Kevin's. His eyes were closed too and he had an innocent smile. It made Kyle grin. He looked down once more at their fused bodies and closed his eyes.
Kyle was wondering how long he and Kevin would have to stick together. And how long this chains curse would be with them. He was so comfortable, and the whole yard was quiet. Really quiet... too quiet. Kyle opened his eyes and look around. 'Where did Jake go?' He thought. He shifted a bit on the mattress and looked around. Kyle felt the blood rush from his face. Jake was under the surface, and not moving. He took his half as fast as he could, and leaped into the water. Kevin was startled and yelled out, but Kyle ignored him. He literally pulled Kevin under the water and grabbed Jake with his arm. He stood up and made sure Jake's head was above the water.
"Hey!" Jake shouted, "What was that for?!"
Kyle stood surprised. He looked at Kevin who looking at him like he had a third eye. "Well... you were... and I mean..." Kyle sputtered. He looked at Kevin and gave him a dirty look, "Why didn't you do anything?!"
"He was practicing, tard." Kevin rolled his eyes, "He was holding his breath."
"Ya!" Jake beamed, "Almost broke my record too!"
"So, you knew?" Kyle still had the dirty look.
"Ya."
"Could have told me."
"You didn't give me time!" Kevin argued back, "Just yanked me around with you." Kyle looked back at Jake, just to make sure he was safe, and nodded. Kevin shook his head and chuckled. He playfully splashed Kyle in the face. Kyle smiled and splashed Kevin back, then pushed on him, and tried to get away, "Oh, trying to run are you... We'll see about that!" Kevin splashed him in turn, then ran the other way. Water was flying everywhere, and playful insults were thrown around. They had gotten each other in a head lock and were thrashing around.
Jake thought they had started fighting for real this time, and rushed over. "Guys! Guys stop!" Jake's eyes had watered up, and his voice was desperate, "Guys! Please! Stop!"
Kevin and Kyle were still grinning when they stopped, but when Kevin saw Jake's face, he put his arm around his brother. "Hey... Jake, it's ok. We were just playing, everything is fine." Jake looked up at the pair's face's and saw them smiling. He wiped the tears from his face and smiled back. He threw his arms around both of them in a big hug. Kevin hugged him back, but Kyle hesitated. He felt a bit uncomfortable, and didn't know what to do. Jake was giving Kevin a hug, but he was attached to Kevin. Did that mean Jake was hugging him too. When Kyle glanced down and saw Jake looking up at him with a big grin, he realized he didn't care, and hugged Jake back.
