A small camera lens appeared over the screen and shined down on the twelve year old. A yellow light shined from the camera, covering his body.
YOU HAVE CHOSEN BODY MODIFICATION, the words on the computer screen said. UPON SCANNING YOU, THE TRANS BOOTH HAS CHOSEN THE MODIFICATION BEST SUITED TO YOUR PERSONALITY.
Suddenly all of Tom's clothes disappeared even his underwear. He tried to cry out in horror, to run out of the booth, but he just stood still. He couldn't move!
All over Tom's body, his rather pale, fair skin darkened to a ruddy orange color. Then his already plump body became even plumper. Not too much, just a little.
Which was a small thing compared to his feet. They stretched from a size nine to a size fifteen-and the oes widened to about nine inches.Tom felt his face tingling, and although he couldn't see it knew it was changing as well.
Clothes now began to appear on Tom's body. First a comically large pair of boxers and red striped socks that stretched up to the knee, and a perfectly ordinary white tank top. Then a pair of blue pants sized to fit his new body and a baggy yellow shirt, a blue vest and a puffy blue bow tie around his neck. Puffy white gloves formed over his hands. Finally a pair of red pancake-toed shoes with yellow saddles and orange laces appeared on his newly over-sized feet.
A silver mirror slid over the screen, and Tom could see his new face. The skin around his eyes and mouth was now milky white. The white patterns around his eyes stretched up to his forehead and were topped by black arching eyebrows; inside each was a vertical black bar. Inside his white muzzle was a small black smile and outside red blush had formed over his cheeks. Inside his cheeks were three black freckles. In the very center of his face was his nose was round, red, and nearly as big as a peach.
The most dramatic change was his hair. Stretching from his right ear to around the back of his head and ending at his left his hair had become neon red and curly, and thickened to where it stretched halfway across his shoulders. But the hair on top was gone, and ridiculously tiny yellow derby was perched right over his forehead. His face also showed the weight he'd just gained. Yet despite that and changes to his face he still looked twelve years old.
Tom suddenly found he could move again. He took off his right glove, and saw his hand at least still looked normal. He wiped a finger against his face. Nothing came off. He gave his bulbous red nose a squeeze. HONK! it sounded like a bike horn. He took off the tiny hat and rubbed his newly bald head.
"I'm a clown," he said quietly, and heard a goofy lilt underlying his voice.
The mirror slid up and the screen fleshed YES. SINCE YOU ARE A BOY WHO ENJOYS MISCHIEF AND PRACTICAL JOKES-NOT TO MENTION DISOBEYING YOUR PARENTS-IT WAS DECIDED THE MOST APPROPRIATE BODY MODIFICATION FOR YOU WOULD BE A CLOWN. AN AUGUSTE CLOWN TO BE PRECISE. IN ADDITION TO THE PHYSICAL CHANGES, YOU HAVE ALL THE ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE SUITABLE FOR YOUR CURRENT FORM. Now all of a sudden Tom felt a full knowledge of clown routines and jokes both practical and impractical rushed through his head. He also suddenly knew how to juggle and tie animal balloons, to walk a low-wire and ride a unicycle. He even now knew about the various types of clowns, and where augustes like him fit in the clown hierarchy.
