You decide you can’t miss this opportunity, so you decide to talk to them. You slowly emerge from the brush into the clearing and greet the fairies with a soft, friendly “Hello”.
All the fairies immediately turn toward you, shocked looks upon all their faces.
“A human?!” one shouts.
“Oh, no; I forgot to cast the protection spell!” Said another.
“What shall we do?!” Said a third.
“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you.” You say, trying to calm them down.
A fourth fairy flies up to you, this one, wearing a silver tiara. She takes out a wand and taps you on the forehead with it. At the moment of contact, a swirling stream of glitter coils around you. You stumble to keep your footing as your body begins to shrink, clothes and all; your feet sliding across the ground as their relative distance narrows. Soon, you’re about the same side as the other fairies.
“You would be wise not to run off into the woods in this state,” the fairy with the tiara said, “without magic, or our protection, someone of your size would certainly see their end out there.” She places her hand on your shoulder and looks into your eyes. “I assure you, it is only a precaution to prevent you from running off while we decide what to do with you.” With that, she flits off to the center of the clearing and the other fairies gather around her to discuss your fate.
