As you sit down on the damp ground, you suddenly hear a rustle in the leaves. You crane your neck upward to see the towering figure of Natalie, your best friend. She was holding her smartphone, which had an app that let her track your own cellphone.
“Oh Goddesses, another one!” The fairy with the tiara said as she flew up to Natalie, tapped her with her wand and shrank her as well. “You all cast the protection spell and I’ll speak with our newest guest.” The fairies raised their wands into the air and loosed a large sphere of light that flew into the sky and showered glitter in a dome shape pattern down around the area.
“Please, don’t hurt her!” You plead. “She’s my best friend! Do what you will with me, but spare her!” The fairy stared into Natalie’s eyes.
“What’s going on here?” Natalie asked you, not breaking eye contact with the fairy.
“If I were to guess, we saw something we shouldn’t have;” you say, “and now they’re trying to figure out what to do with us.” The fairy flew off to rejoin the others.
After a moment, Natalie asked, “How long is this going to take?”
“We had just come to a decision about you when your friend showed up;” the fairy replied, “and now we have decided that your fates will be one in the same.”
