A spooky place the mansion made, perfect if it was Holloween, but it wasn't! Mike, Sei, went to search up the great staircase and down the circular halls.
"Crazy old man that built this place, wonder why he had the bedrooms built in a circle above the first floor?" asked Sei.
Mike gave a shrug as they continued to peek into one room and then the next. It was by chance that Sei found the linen closet first and with it candles, matches, and the house safe.
Mike and Sei gawked at the big iron safe as it stood to the back of the closet. A flick of one match and one then two candles flickered.
Mike pushed Sei to one side and began to fumble with the safe's combination tumbler.
"I can almost feel the lock's tumblers falling into....!" said Mike as with a clunk the safe's locked door clicked.
Mike looked at Sei with a satisfied grin. The latch fell down and with a sound of heavy suction the door swung open.
Expecting money, jewels, and untold wealth the boys eyes fell on a black ebony wood box. Sei reached in and with a grunt picked up the wooden box.
"Heck this thing weighs a ton!" said Sei.
As candles flickered the boys opened the black box to see a red felt lining and placed neatly in the middle a black Knight suited in armor and a black stallion for his mount.
