Amy grabbed one more pearl without hesitation, and quickly swallowed it without a second thought.
With the sensations taking place, Amy prepared herself.
Within seconds, bright blue scales began spreading from her tail, and up her body. Her belly button was
quickly sealed up as scales covered it, and her hips slightly widened. The scales from her forearms spread up
to the rest of her limbs, and soon, her body from the neck down was covered in scales. As the scales began
covering Amy’s head, her nose shrank into her face until there was nothing left but a smooth surface.
Meanwhile her ears morphed and became more fin-like. The last thing to change as the last of Amy’s skin was
covered in scales was her eyes. The bright azure of her irises began to spread over her pupils and whites of
her eyes, and a few seconds later, her eyes were completely blue. An a few seconds after that, the sensations
finally stopped.
Amy took a look at herself in the mirror near her. She seemed more fish than human with no nose, completely
blue eyes, and a body full of scales and fins. Normally she would be freaking out, but instead, she smiled,
and was happy. She even felt a sense of completeness, like she didn’t need to change any further. She also
felt knowledge she never had before flood into her. All of a sudden she knew that there were more like her
out there, mer-people, and this form was what all mermaids are meant to look like, and the transformations she
went through earlier were actually stages of a mermaid growing to maturity. She knew there were several
versions of mer-folk: multiple forms of fish, dolphins, sharks, and even orcas. She also knew that mermaids
after being born are brought to the surface by their parents to be raised properly until they begin their
first stage (the gills), after which they are brought back underwater to live with their fellow mer-folk. All
of this knowledge and more amazed Amy as she realized that she had just become part of a world under the
oceans.
Amy then noticed the intructions in the box and took a look at them again, and noticed that there’s more
writing on it that just appeared out of nowhere, as if by magic.
Congratulations young one.

I do not need to tell you that the world above the surface mustn’t know about your new species’ existence, or
why.

After reading this, she decided to change back, and after willing herself to return to her human form, she
managed to change back into her human self easily, looking as if nothing has ever changed.
As she quickly dried off and got ready for bed, she thought about whether or not to tell Lina about her
changes, let alone change her.
It would take a lot to convince her.
