Meeting a Pixie

added by s1 10 years ago O

You gave a surprised glance over to Kaylee after she made that comment. Your wonderment at seeing Sarah and Ophelia fly off to collect a young fairy child, a pixie, as Kaylee explained related to how a race that had only one gender, female, reproduced. But Kaylee had told you that she hadn't seen anyone romantically since she transformed, which lead you to wonder how could Kaylee know.

"How do you know that?" you asked softly, "you said you've never had a fairy girlfriend..."

"Until you arrived... yes," Kaylee nodded, "but you don't think that they'd just let me wander around in the dark about a fairy's biology and anatomy would you?"

"I'd thought that some things would be... private," you managed, trying not to blush.

"Things like that generally are," Kaylee gave a smile, "fairies are a bit looser with regard to displaying affection then humans are, but we do not make love in public. But since we didn't transform together, we couldn't experiment with that and Sarah couldn't let me go around without knowing anything."

"Oh."

"But we are together again, and I can show you later, in private," Kaylee's smile then became a smirk and you swore there was a slightly seductive tone to her voice.

It was at that time that Sarah and Ophelia returned to where you were with their child between them and holding their hands.

"But mom, I only wanted to see if the bird had any babies," the youngster, Lilly, pouted, though it wasn't clear as to whether she was talking to Sarah or Ophelia.

"And suppose you woke the bird up?" Sarah asked her back, "what would Ophelia and I do if it woke up and ate you?"

You watched as Sarah lifted Lilly up into her arms and hugged the little pixie.

"Uh... don't fairies talk with birds and butterflies... stuff like that?" you asked.

"That's largely human fairy tales, Ada," Kaylee said to you, "some like the Queen are strong enough in magic that they might be able to "influence" small animals like birds, insects, squirrels, chipmunks, and the like... but it isn't outright communication. And many song birds would probably see even us as a potential food source."

That made you gulp, nervous. Getting eaten by a robin or a blue jay was not something you wanted.

"Don't worry, birds can eat fairies, but generally they don't try," Ophelia spoke up, "so long as we give them space and don't bother them, we have no problem. It's probably an effect of the same spells we use to keep humans from finding us."

You then nodded and turned your attention from Kaylee to the fairy family before you and Kaylee. You noticed that Lilly was now focused on you.

"Who are you?" Lilly asked.

"I'm Adam..." you said reflexively and then caught yourself, "I am Ada. I'm like your mom and and Kaylee."

"Kaylee was human," Lilly answered, with an amazing degree of recognition, "Mom was always a fairy."

"She means me, dear," Sarah said to Lilly.

"But you're mother," Lilly answered.

You stood their dumbly blinking.

"If you wish to think in human terms, I am Lilly's father," Sarah spoke, "Ophelia actually gave birth to her. The term "mother" is given to the fairy that provides the nectar for a new fairy and "mom" is for the fairy that provides the seed and gives birth."

That only left you confused even more. Most stories that you'd seen that used some of those terms generally applied them to males. You wondered how long it would take you to get used to some of these things, especially when it looked like you were having to try and catch up with a lot of things that you didn't know. But then, you'd only just become a fairy, and it'd be awhile before you'd be able to accept things completely.

"We'll leave the details for Kaylee to demonstrate to you," Ophelia commented.

"Okay," you said slowly.

"Anyway, Ada, this is Lilly," Sarah spoke, presenting the pixie to you, "Ophelia's and my little pixie. She's a handful, but we love her very much. We normally don't let her stay up this late, but the Festival is a special occasion."

"Mother's even gonna have a baby sister for me," Lilly said proudly.

"Kaylee's already told me, and congratulations," you said to Sarah, thinking that was the polite thing to say.

"Thank you, Ada," Sarah said with a nod.

"Maybe you and Kaylee will have some sprites soon, now that you've been reunited, they'll grow up with our youngest and will be bestest friends!" Ophelia gave a cheer.

You found yourself blushing heavily with embarrassment. You were privately sure that in time you'd probably be no different then any other fairy, but being pregnant was not something on your mind at the moment.

"Let's let Ada get used to being a fairy before encouraging her and Kaylee to get married and start a family," Sarah said to Ophelia, "we don't want to embarrass her or Kaylee."
