Carl had been hoping that after his 'display' he wouldn't have to do anything else to get onto the show with
Wendy, unfortunately for him he was mistaken. Derrik informed Carl, "We have finished Wendy's interview, and
now we're ready for you Carly. Sorry for the wait."
"Yeah, the wait." Carl said wanting to bring up the idea of them filming him but decided to hold his tongue.
The three led Carl back to the elevator and brought him to a closed off room on the bottom floor. It had one
table with two chairs and a third chair sitting alone in front of it. Before entering Jon pulled Carl aside,
"You have nothing to worry about, they are just going to ask you a few questions about the show, you know what
to do."
Carl didn't really know what to do, but entered without telling him that. Derrick and Ashleigh sat behind the
table with some paperwork and motioned for Carl to take his own seat. Ashleigh must have noticed that Carl
didn't look too comfortable. "You have nothing to worry about Carly, we like your sister and I have a good
feeling we're going to like you. All you have to do is answer some questions."
And so began the longest interview of Carl's life. They started by asking questions like how Carly would
describe herself and why she wanted to be on the show. Carl had thought long and hard about how he would
answer these questions and had decided long ago he was going to be as honest as possible. Carl told them how
he was doing this for his 'sister' and how he would do anything for her. They asked a series of follow ups
seemingly worried the Carly didn't want to be there, but Carl seemed to have convinced them that he wasn't
just there to get Wendy on (no matter how true it was). This led into a series of questions about how he'd
play the game. Carl told them his version of the truth, he was going to try and be as honest as possible but
if push came to shove he would lie to help himself and Wendy. They then asked Carl a question he wasn't
looking forward to answers, they wanted to know if he'd use his sexuality to help him on the show. Carl
noticed that Derrick in particular seemed to be paying extra special attention. Carl knew they probably wanted
to here a yes, but he wasn't going to change himself for the show (any more than Wendy already had) so he
simply answered meekly, "If it happens it happens." The two seemed thrown off by the answer but both recovered
and resumed the interview after taking down a few notes.
After what felt like hours Ashleigh said, "Ok, we're reached our final question for you. If it comes down to
it, will you throw your sister under the bus to help yourself win the half million?"
Carl was a little thrown off by the question but quickly answered, "No. I would never do that." Carl was
surprised to see Derrick give a chuckle at his answer but again chose to be on his best behavior and hold his
tongue. "All right," Derrick said, "We'll escort you back to your room and we'll have final word on the show
in a few days."
"That's good." Carl said, "What room is Wendy in? I need to talk to her."
"Oh I'm sorry," Ashleigh said, "but that's not possible, you see, once you have reached this stage of the
auditions you must be separated from all other candidates, your sister included."
"But...that's not fair!" Carl stammered, not only was he stuck as Carly, but he was going to be forcibly
separated from his wife.
"Again, I'm sorry but there isn't anything we can do about that, it's the rules. But don't worry, you'll see
you sister soon enough."
Derrick added, "Why don't you order up some room service? And if you request it we can get you just about
anything within reason all on the companies dime. I could get some clothing catalogs and you can go on a nice
little shopping spree if you want."
"Uh, thanks." Carl said as the two started him on his long walk back to his room, where he was in for a long
wait.
