You notice, to your displeasure, that you are becoming used to your new chicken legs. It was awkward at first, but with each step you take, you find yourself walking with less difficulty. Your knees are still there, but they just move in the opposite direction now. Moving your foot is basically the same, but now you can feel a wider range of motion. You find that you can operate your clawed toes more or less like fingers, which is a good thing, since you no longer have any.
Your new thighs feel weird too. Although your plump legs are now yellow and hairless, the tops are covered in a layer of white feathers. The constant rubbing of feathers against feathers creates a soft swishing sound. You hate it... Out of habit you move to stick your fingers in your ears, but your feathery arms are incapable of such movement. You only extend your wings out before flapping them back into place, clucking with disappointment. You wish you still had your voice, your face. At least then you would look like yourself again.
Your thoughts are interrupted by a low hissing from somewhere off the trail. You awkwardly shift your chicken weight to the side and turn, slowly following the voice into the trees. You must be getting closer, since the voice is getting louder. Your head bobs up and down as you walk. You struggle to keep it still. Low clucks escape your throat.
The voice is loud now, and it sounds like it is giving someone instructions. Plunging through a final layer of bushes, you are able to find the source of the latex chicken at last. A ten foot tall, rubbery glowing egg is sitting in a small clearing, and the latex chicken is listening intently to its next orders. From what you can hear, you aren't the only human who has been forced to become a chicken today.
Terrified, you let out a loud BA-KAW! You've been spotted. The latex chicken stares right at you as the glowing egg begins to speak, strangely in English.
"IS THIS A FORMER HUMAN?"
You cluck loudly in response, stumbling around. "Baaawwwk ba-KAW!" You pick idly at the dirt, feeling the muck between your toes, and missing your shoes. You try yelling at the egg, telling it to undo the transformation. You don't want to be a chicken! But it's too late for that. All that comes out is "Buck Buck BAWK!"
The egg understands you anyway. It figures. The egg starts to flicker. A loud hissing noise comes out from it, and you wonder if you've made a mistake. It speaks.
"YOU AMUSE ME GREATLY. I AGREE TO CHANGE ONE PART OF YOU BACK TO NORMAL. CHOOSE WISELY."
