Nicky and Charlie had decided to take their lunch plans outside of the school cafeteria for a change. As seniors in high school, it was one
of the few privledges they could get as seniors. Along for the ride came their friends , fellow seniors Kaitlyn and Maria, along with Maria's
younger siblings, sophomore Mike and freshman Daniela.
Cutting through the large open field behind their high school, Nicky led the group of six students, all of Italian descent, to this hip new
restaurant he had heard of. After they had entered and were quickly seated, Charlie announced his intentions to grab a steak. The group
soon rallied behind that idea, and six steak orders were placed.
Soon afterwards, an attractive blonde waitress brought the table six plates of what she termed salad, but clearly looked like grass.
Maria was the only one who spoke up about the peculiar dish: "Is this a joke? Do you really expect us to eat grass?" she fumed in her
usual passive agressive manner.
"Your friends don't seemed to mind it at all," noted the waitress plainly.
Maria looked at her friends and siblings, each one had their face dug into their plates of grass. Maria looked down at her own plate. She
suddenly forgot her previous objections as a primal force took over her mind: FOOD. It suddenly became the only thing she cared about.
She brushed her long black hair to the sides and stuck her face into the plate.
