"Hey, you found a vending machine in this weird store!" your friend Nick said, suddenly appearing by your side. Without reading anything on the machine, he pulls out some quarters and begins to stick them into the machine.
"Hey!" you say, stopping him. "This isn't a vending machine. It's a wishing machine!"
Nick just stares at you and then looks at the machine more closely. "I doubt this thing is actually a wishing machine," he says incredulously. "I wish I had a soda."
The machine whirs, and from a slot down below, a can falls into it. Nick picks it up and opens it. He takes a sip and smiles at you.
"Tastes like soda to me," he says, chugging the rest of the can. "The shop owner probably just disguised a vending machine as a wishing machine just so he could make some money off of some suckers."
"I don't know Nick," you reply. "You did make a wish for a soda, and the machine granted your wish. What if it really is a wishing machine?"
"Wow, I can't believe you'd be foolish enough to believe this scheme," Nick admonishes you. "Do yourself a favor, man, and try not to be so gullible."
"I'm still hesitant to believe you," you say, looking at the machine longingly. "Just imagine if it actually worked, though. We could probably wish for anything."
"Pfft, right," Nick responds sarcastically. "Like it would come true if I said that I wish..."
