"...a fish." Becky blushed.
"Oh," Mr Jones said, very impressed. "That's fascinating. I heard they have made great advances in the biogenetics behind transformations, and they can produce species of all varieties. Do you know what kind of fish you're going to be?"
"A cod? I think," Becky said. Even saying it out loud made her nauseous. She couldn't begin to comprehend how her body might feel covered in scales, a thick tail...
"Do you know where you're bound for? The aquarium? The sea? Or..." Mr Jones had thoughts of his friend, a fishmonger, Hank Alchop. He had been trading magnificently in transformed products. Humans changed to fish ended up huge - much bigger than a traditional catch.
"We don't know yet. I get transformed and then they decide," Becky explained.
"Enjoy it, dear," he replied, as Becky left the store.
