“Just… making sure you were okay.” Her demeanor made it seem like that wasn’t the whole reason, but you decide not to call her out on it, for now.
“Now, you said if I let you go, you promise to take me to someone who can help get me home.” You said. “How do I know this isn’t a trick?”
“While it is true we fairies are natural tricksters, our word is our bond. To break a promise, is to offend the Goddesses themselves.”
After looking into her wide, solid deep-pink eyes, you saw no mischievous or deceitful intent in them. It could be a part of their natural trickery, but you decided to take her for her word and released your grip.
The fairy flew up to your eye level and smiled. “Thank you.” After giving you a tiny kiss on the cheek, she flies off, motioning for you to follow her, saying “This way.” You follow the fairy closely, keeping your eyes on her at all times, mostly entranced by her wings.
Eventually, you saw an area of the forest off in the distance that seemed to bustle with activity. Tiny lights streaked every which way, others stood still in the trees; and one tree you could tell loomed over the others. The fairy stopped and said, “This is as far as we can go at this point.”
“Why’s that?” You ask.
