Katie took a deep breath. It was now or never, and Mary Elise was the closest thing she had to a friend. She trusted the girl more than any of the others, including her mother.
"Mary, what if I told you I could make you a kid again with my ring?"
The other girl giggled, "That's very sweet Katie, but magic like that only works in fairy tails."
"No, its true, I can make you a little girl again." Katie said, not including that she'd already used it on her, at least not yet.
Mary Elise didn't seem convinced, but she remained kind to Katie. "Oh? Alright, prove it to me. Make me a little girl, like, age ten."
Katie grinned. This was just the age she herself hoped to become when this was all over. "All right, hang on tight." She then made her wish.
