"I want to be your real sister," Mary Elise stated.
"Are you sure?" Katie asked. "We could try making you my sister by adoption, then you wouldn't lose all who you are."
Mary Elise shook her head. "I want a fresh start, to be a completely different person. Your sister!"
Katie smiled and nodded. "You'll need to be reborn through someone, probably Mom."
Mary nodded. "Makes sense. Let's do it!"
Katie hugged her and made her wish. She felt the ring warm on her finger and then a bright flash of light. Suddenly, Mary Elise was gone. Katie immediately was worried she had done something wrong, but then she saw her mother come in from the other room. She didn't notice Katie, because she was humming softly to herself as her hands caressed a very round and very pregnant belly. Katie's eyes widened. She'd never seen her mother like this, and the knowledge that she held her new sister, her new best friend inside her elated her. She could feel the ring's energy pouring between the two, exchanging DNA to make Mary a completely different person. Katie made sure she would have the memories of the ring, and some of her former life.
Katie watched as the pictures around the house began to shift, showing a new girl next to Katie and Kellie. The new girl had a vague recollection of Mary but her face and features were slightly different. She had blonder hair now, freckles and deep green eyes. She almost looked like Katie, but not quite. Eventually the spell faded and so did the bump in Kellie's belly. Katie wondered what this meant, until she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. Turning she gasped. A little girl her age stared right back at her, her face and eyes unique to the pictures on the wall. She was Mary, but she also was Katie in this sense. She dressed a bit like a tomboy, sneakers, jeans and shirt, her blonde hair short.
She grinned, "Hi Sis!"
Katie giggled and threw her arms around her, overjoyed to finally have a twin sister. "Mary! Im so glad!"
"Not Mary anymore, Katie." Mary said. "I'm Kayla..."
