"Wow. This isn't how I expected this call to go at all," Kyle said. "I accept your apology, I think. And I think I do know something that would make it up to me."
"Yeah?" I replied, my voice somewhat shaky.
"Well, first, I should mention that your time is up. You get both transformation and dare."
"Err, what?" I said. He was still going to do that? It was an odd way to get back at me, but I didn't think he'd keep going after I apologized.
"I guess I won't do anything nasty. Wow. Do you think we could be friends eventually?" He said the last part very quickly. "I mean never mind I'm sorry I asked, of course we can't. Anyway, for your dare, I dare you to go to school barefoot today, and for your transformation, you'll be able to go barefoot anywhere comfortably."
I blinked in confusion. "Well, um," I said, "I've gotta say, that wasn't what I was expecting when I said 'something I can do for you.' Can I apologize to you publicly anyway? I think I should, like, it wasn't a small thing I did to you."
"Oh, uh, I was just doing something small," he said, "since you suddenly got nice. As for what you can do for me, uh, I definitely want you to feel the same kind of embarrassment I did. How about I pants you, you apologize for pantsing me the other day, and then you can pull your pants up?"
*Oh my god,* I think, *The evil, nasty bastard. I'm so going to get him for even suggesting that.* I take a deep breath, and then release it. *No, I'm not. I deserve that and more, after all that I've done.*
"That sounds horrifying," I said, "which I guess means it's the right thing to do. I'll meet you outside the cafeteria at lunch, okay? Oh," I chuckle a little, "and I'll be barefoot. Can't back down from a dare, right?" I crossed my fingers and hoped against hope that he'd change his mind.
"That sounds perfect. Maybe we'll be friends yet. See you then!" I heard a click, and then a dial tone.
I set down the phone, and sat on my bed. I was going to be willingly pantsed in front of most of the school. Was this really what I wanted to happen? Once again, I didn't see any way to turn over a new leaf besides making an apology and doing something for a victim.
*Well,* I think, *I guess I'm just going to do it. Oh my god I'm scared.*
I absentmindedly pull my shoes off as I think. Right as get done, I hear a horn from out front. Julia is here!
