Katie came back and found Kelly and Judy along with all the other girls waiting for her on a bench outside the department store. The little girl suddenly broke from sitting and ran up to hug her. "Katie!"
Katie blinked and looked down at the child. Her mother, her tiny mother, hugging her just like she had once hugged. She smiled whistfully and patted her head, "Hey ... uhm, squirt. Did you have a good movie?"
"Yeah it was fun!" Kelly said. Katie could sense she was playing her part, not really being a little girl. Kelly's mind might still be her grown up self, but she didn't know that Katie remembered that. She also didn't know that Katie wasn't really a college student.
"Well good! Hey, I found the neatest magic shop! It has real magic!" She said, winking to the other girls. She saw Tricia take an immediate interest,
"Real magic?" Tricia asked.
"Yes," Katie said. "Who knows, why the power to change your age or form might even be there!"
All the girls looked to one another. Tricia was very interested, and from what Katie could see so were Judy and Kelly. Mika, Claudia and Samantha were less so. "Why don't a few of us go check it out, I kinda promised the owner that I'd bring my friends."
"Ill go!" Kelly piped up. Inside, Kelly wondered if this shop was the reason she'd become a little girl. She wanted to go now, see if it was.
"Me too," Judy said.
"Me also," Tricia pointed out.
"I think we're good," Claudia said. "We've had enough uhm ...adventures today."
Katie nodded, understanding all too well. She wasn't in a mood to change herself or anyones age today. But she didn't want to break her promise. Smiling she took Kelly's hand. "Well, let's go."
