“Ok, quiet down children!” Sarah tries to say over the noise of all the visiting school children. The children’s teacher, Mrs Sanderson, a young but competent blond haired teacher hushes the children but none of them keeps quiet. “I SAID quiet down!” Sarah repeats and this time all of the children stops… not because of Sarah’s repeated order, but because of the look in her narrowed eyes. The only one that has kept calm the whole time is Robert who is sitting in the middle of the group.
“Now when you’re all quiet I would like to welcome all of you to ‘Kennel for a day’ kennel. I’m going to guide you today and show you all of our doggies and puppies. I think we’re going to have a GREAT time today! Now let me introduce myself: I’m Sarah Kana”
“Hallo Sarah!” All the children greet the chief of the kennel. Sarah puts her arm around Victoria who smiles nervously. “And this is my assistant Victoria. She’s going to help me to guide you through the kennel and answer all of your questions. Say hallo to her too”
“Hallo Victoria!” Victoria waves nervously to the children.
“Now, we’re going to divide you into small groups. I need one group of seven, one group of eight, one group of four and the rest can follow me” Sarah instructs and the group suddenly becomes wild.
“I want to be with Tim!” One girl shouts while another shouts “I want to be with Matilda!” One of the boys shouts “I want to be with Robert!” The group soon forms smaller groups. Mrs Sanderson sneaks up next to Sarah. “Is it really necessary to split the group into such small groups?” She whispers to Sarah.
“Well yes, it is necessary as some of the kennels are smaller then others. Also I was thinking of letting the kids cuddle with the puppies a little and it would be bad if all the children were forced to stand in crowded kennels and everyone would fight over the puppies” Sarah explains and smiles knowingly. “Um… won’t the mother dogs be there too? Are you sure that they won’t they bite or something?” Mrs Sanderson asks. “Nonsense! Come with me and I’ll show you how friendly one of our dogs are” Mrs Sanderson looks a bit nervous. “Um… I don’t know… I shouldn’t get away all by myself and leave the children…”
“I can sme… see that you’re afraid of dogs… I promise you that you won’t be afraid of dogs anymore if you just let me show you one of our dogs”
“But…”
“Please… I insist… Victoria! Look after the children while I take care of the children as I take care of Mrs Sanderson here…” Victoria looks confused for a second. “Take care of?... what do you mean… Oh! NOW I get it! Sure I’ll stay here with the children” Sarah gives her assistant an annoyed look and Mrs Sanderson gives them a strange look. “C’mon Mrs Sanderson, this way to the kennels”
