Runt sat back and grinned at me. "That's really a good start. I have a few suggestions for some tweaks." He snapped his fingers and a printed ticket appeared. He handed it to me and I saw it was an old Lotto ticket for Powerball. "This ticket was bought but thrown away a month ago. I can change things so that you bought it and turned it in last week. That way no one else loses out. And you have an unquestioned source of money to play with."
I stared at the ticket. "Sure!" The ticket vanished. I blinked. "How much was the prize?"
Runt grins. "Five million. Top prize was $32 Million, so you are relatively small potatoes. Came to $2.75 million in cash after taxes, all safely distributed in a number of bank accounts. Yeah, one is your parent's. I guessed that one."
I lay back in bed, stunned. "I'm a millionaire?"
"Don't get too excited. These days that doesn't mean you can buy a jet or even much of a mansion without getting some looks from the IRS. Still, you can go or do most anything you want now and everyone 'knows' where the money came from. And since some of the money got invested surprisingly well, you'll find it just doesn't run out."
"Still!" I grinned. "Not quite what I expected from a demon."
Runt chuckled. "I could have just created a million or two in unmarked bills in your closet, or maybe a bag of diamonds. But that would cause lots of questions that you couldn't answer. This just took a very small amount of magic and no one else is hurt."
"Why do you care?" I was curious, though I approved.
"Because you care. To be honest, it wouldn't matter to me if you got lottery winnings instead of some little old lady who really bought the ticket, though it would take more work to change the past. But I like you. And for whatever reason, you really like me. I saw that in your mind. Even though you think of me as a possible demon, a dangerous being."
I flushed, but said nothing. What could I say? I didn't know why I was attracted to him myself, well, other than his appearance and personality.
Runt slid his fingers over my chest. "Since you liked my first change, here is my next suggestion."
