As they continued navigating through the tunnels of the ancient cloud city, they started growing noticing signs that the abandoned tunnels weren’t as lifeless as they originally thought. Both above and below ground there was rarely any signs of life save for the occasional shrub or insect, yet here as they walked, Ilvir could feel and sense things on the ground around him and Kitty. Occasionally scraps of cloud meat and bones that were either far too rotten or small to identify would brush past Ilvir’s bare feet. Sometimes, they would splash into small puddles of oozes or liquids that caused any bare skin it came in contact with to tingle.
Curious, Ilvir followed the traces of meat and liquids he found, noticing a faint smell in the air that he couldn’t quite place or recognize.
As Ilvir walked, the smell slowly began growing stronger and heavier. Just as he felt he was about to discover the source, he heard Kitty give out a large growl in the direction ahead of them.
Ilvir pauses. He made no sound as Kitty’s growling continued to grow louder and more aggressive. Ilvir himself couldn’t sense anything, but through his mental link with Kitty, he could feel that something was nearby, something... big, at least human sized.
Several seconds passed by in complete silence, before Ilvir felt a presence right in front of him, he felt something breath on his face. In that moment, before Ilvir could even react, Kitty’s claws flared orange with heat and leaped towards the entity in front of Ilvir. The presence quickly withdrew further into the tunnel with Kitty giving chase. Ilvir seeing the faint light that Kitty produced, immediately ran after her, doing his best to not fall whilst in the pitch black darkness.
Both the unseen entity and Kitty were drawing further away from Ilvir who struggled to catches up, and for a second Ilvir was just about to lose sight of Kitty’s light as she turned a corner in the tunnels, before Ilvir summoning up all of his strength ran with as much speed as possible, turning the corner he saw Kitty go through and finding himself in...
