To the old man's great surprise, the four university students that entered weren't interested in a game of change. No, they wanted something less gamey. Less static. They were hoping for something more like their tabletop RPGs, they explained. They wanted to try something different from Dungeons and Dragons. They wanted something unique.
The old man smiled. Putiing away the board game, he pulled a thick book from behind the counter and handed it over.
"A World of Change", he called it. "I think you'll enjoy this. You won't even need a Dungeon Master, so you all can play".

Ty flipped through the rules, his eyes carefully scanning each of the pages. As the forever-DM, the group has tasked him with getting the basics down while they looked over the premade PCs that had come with it. He was having no luck with it, though; the first page merely laid out their goal while the rest seemed to be a... log book? A long list of heroes and their eventual fates, all of which seemed to involve changes:
Amelia Ironhide: Transformed into a rodent and left in the wilds
Enros the Barbarian: Fattened to immobility and abducted by the Drow.
Tomas the Mage: Changed into a fat ogre and banished to the northlands.
Zellerina the Witch: Mindwiped and thrust in prostitution.
Those were just a few examples of their fates. None of them had succeeded in completing their main quest to destroy the foul menace that was the Witch Queen.
Ty was eager to read more, but his three friends couldn't be bothered to wait. Eric, Aaron, and Steph' tossed the character sheets his way. Before giving them a run-through, he glanced at his friends choices. As expected, pervy Eric had chosen the scantily clad and well-endowed rogue for his PC. Aaron went for the muscle-bound, cod-piece brandishing barbarian. Steph settled on a female Orc Warrior. Two warriors and a stealth class meant that their party was sorely lacking some magic, but Ty wasn't sure.
The moment he finally selected one, the room was bathed in a white light. In a flash the four were gone, transported to the World of Change and changed into the characters they had selected for themselves. This meant that Ty had become a...
