The rest of the drive only takes a few minutes, but as Kaitlin pulls into the parking lot of the dark building it is obvious the store is closed. Pulling up to the door she reads the hours sign.
"Ugh. The store isn't open on weekends. Guess we're stuck for now. This sucks."
Laura pulls the pacifier out of her mouth.
"At least you're not the one in the carseat."
"That's true being stuck as a baby would be way worse."
"I'm not a baby!"
"Whatever you say, big girl." Laura doesn't get a chance speak before Kaitlin pushes the pacifier back into her mouth.
Kaitlin drives back out of the parking lot and to her home. The drive doesn't take long, and once they arrive Kaitlin unloads all of her recent purchases from the trunk.
Laura pouts as she waits for Kaitlin to unbuckle her. Kaitlin decides to let her stew for a minute while she sets up her guest room for a toddler occupant. Once that is done, she returns to unbuckle Laura and brings her inside. Laura hopes to talk to Kaitlin about what their plan is for the weekend but finds herself unceremoniously dumped in the guest room.
"Listen I know you don't want to be treated like a toddler, but you're still tiny and I don't want you to hurt yourself or make a mess trying to do something while I'm asleep. I'm exhausted so we'll talk in the morning."
Before Laura can remove the pacifier, Kaitlin closes the door. Laura is going to follow her but finds Kaitlin has childprrofed the handle. Laura can't believe how readily Kaitlin is treating her like a real annoying child. She turns towards the room and she's her options are sleep, play with toys, or watch tv.
