Laura can’t decide whether to be relieved or embarrassed that she finds clothes meant for a toddler in her size in the first bag she checks. She is about to look for something else, as the outfit she finds includes a diaper, but she hears footsteps. Quickly, she removes her kindergarten uniform, tapes on the diaper, pulls up the diaper cover, and slips on the frilly pink dress. She sits on the ground in this new outfit, acting the part of a regular toddler. A chaperone walks by, smiles at Laura, and moves on.
Laura remembers what happened when she left her items unattended before, and opts to sit by them until the coast is clear and she can leave. Eventually, the group leaves. Laura sighs with relief. Now, she can put something on that is better suited for her age. She gets to her feet and goes over to another diaper bag, toddling due to the diaper she is currently wearing.
If she puts on the kindergarten uniform again, an employee might call the school to report a child left behind, so she’d like to find something else. There aren’t any other kindergartener clothes available, but there are some clothes meant for a preschooler that might fit her. Laura pauses for a moment to think about what to do.
