Jennifer is beyond frustrated now. Finding a new agent at 7 was no walk in the park. Eventually she struck gold and found one, Gideon, so desperate for a star client, he was willing to play the role of babysitter in order to allow her easy travel through town. But even after all that work she still struck out.
She listened while the director explained the decision to Gideon, "I'm sorry, your client is a great talent especially for her age, but given the adoption element to the story casting someone who looks so much like our lead is a no go." Jennifer is already fuming when it gets worse, "She's also on the top edge of the age range we're looking for which doesn't help."
On their way out, Gideon tries to assure her he'll be able to find another option in no time, but Jennifer won't have it. That once again brought her to the clinic and that young, well far older than her now, doctor.
"Are you sure about this? It's quite extreme."
Jennifer can't help but sound like a petulant child as she responds, "Listen I don't want to hear it. I'm paying enough not to be constantly questioned."
The doctor relents and leads her to the table. As she feels the warm sensation that heralds changes envolope her, Jennifer observes the new set of changes. First is the all familiar shrinking. That subsides quickly and Jennifer then watches in fascination as her skin gradually darkens from her naturally pale complexion to a rich brown. Finally her hair's texture changes to become increasingly frizzy.
When all is said and done, Jennifer feels absolutely tiny. The fact that the nurse after dressing her in a hospital gown and a pair of disposable training pants, simply carries her over to the pediatrics ward only augments this. There she learns her height is now an even 3 feet and she weighs only 28 lbs. Her exam is finished by a cooing pediatrician and then she's returned to the waiting doctor.
"Holding up a mirror he gives her a moment to process then speaks, "As you can see, not only are you 3 years old, a full race change has been completed."
Jennifer marvels at the adorable black toddler staring back at her from the mirror while she stands bouncing on the table elated. Gideon's research guaranteed her this us exactly what the director would be looking for. She's got to get the role now.
