"Come on, you dweebs. We gotta get our seat before the show starts!" Veronica said, and the group shuffled inside, buying their tickets and talking about their weekends.
As they made their way into the theater, Veronica, Kathy, and Jill set it up where Thomas and Nellie had to sit next to each other. Miles heartbeat grew even faster as he realized what was happening. Miles looked to Thomas and smiled nervously.
"Your hair is really nice today, Nellie." Thomas said.
"Oh. Thank you." Miles said, as he touched his hair ever so slightly.
"Would you like to share a popcorn?" Thomas asked.
"Sure. I'd love to." Miles responded. He couldn't figure out why he was acting this way, but it felt so right.
Soon, the movie had started. Miles and Thomas chomped on their popcorn as they enjoyed the singing and dancing of Gene Kelly, Debbie Reynolds, and Donald O'Connor. Miles seemed to find himself thinking how cute Gene Kelly was too. Why did these thoughts keep slipping into his mind.
Suddenly, the big romantic song between Kelly and Reynolds started to play. As the song progressed, Miles looked to Thomas. He started to lean his head onto his shoulders. Thomas looked at Nellie and smiled, placing his arm around her shoulder. Down the roar, Jill, Kathy, and Veronica approved.
After the movie was over, a movie which everybody loved, especially Miles, the crew took on the down, stopping at a local diner for milkshakes and burgers, and stopping in all the stores, looking at the clothes and books and games that none of them could buy on their own.
Miles and Thomas were now inseparable. Miles chatted on and on to Thomas, and Thomas was engaged every step of the way. Finally Thomas asked her the important question.
"Nellie, do you want to go to the dance with me?" Thomas asked.
"Of course, Thomas! I'd love to." Miles said. If Nellie was here, she'd be the happiest girl in the world. But Miles felt like he was pretty happy too.
Suddenly, out of the corner of his eye, Miles spied a clock.
"Oh my goodness! It's 6:45! I gotta be home in 15 minutes. Bye everyone! Bye Thomas!" Miles said. His friends laughed and waved goodbye, and Miles started to rush towards home.
Miles kept running and running, faster and faster. He couldn't be late!
