Picking up the controller and dropping into the beanbag next to her, Jayden manages to get a good look at the mysterious girl that called him out from under his hiding place. In the artificial light of the screen she looks rather pale, like she hasn't seen much sun in weeks. This is in stark contrast to her shoulder length, dark brown hair with multiple green and purple highlights. She's wearing some really comfy looking sweatpants and a loose, light green tank top sporting an obscure game reference that, due to the bagginess, does little to nothing of hiding the pink bra underneath.
Jayden's a bit flustered by her appearance but quickly realizes he might be staring and should probably try to say something.
"I'm sorry for crashing your place so suddenly. I had no idea someone lived here. From what I had heard this place was completely abandoned.
"That's okay! No hard feelings! The place does look pretty abandoned so I can't blame you for thinking that. And who could resist the allure of exploring a dark, abandoned building? It's no surprise you eventually stumbled into my room."
Jayden decides it's better to not bring up the dare and the fact he was kinda forced by his friends to go inside and check the place out. He wouldn't want to leave a bad impression on the girl he just met. Instead he decides to enquire her a bit further whilst she casually goes through the menus of the game to set up a coop session.
"May I ask who you are? And you mentioned my name earlier, how did you know it?"
"Of course you may, silly! It's important to know your co-op partner before a game! The name's Rachel and I'm a student of this school. Nice to meet ya! As for me knowing your name, that's an easy one. You kinda dropped this when you were diving for coins underneath my bed."
She off handedly waves his ID in front of his face and Jayden starts to feel some embarrassment bubbling up. So far for making a solid first impression. Trying to not give in to the brewing shame, he tries to casually keep the conversation going.
"Nice to meet you, Rachel. I didn't know there were still students living here. Is the school still active then? I heard it got abandoned a long time ago after some weird things happened. Or do you mean you once were a student here and decided to set yourself up after it closed down?
"No, I'm definitely still enrolled into the school! Been living in this dorm room for a pretty long time and I have tons of friends that are hanging out in their own rooms. Sadly none of them are gamers like me, so I can't blow off any steam or find a decent coop partner to hang with when it comes down gaming. That's why I'm glad you came along!"
Jayson realizes there's something seriously off about what she just said. He's sure the school looked pretty empty and abandoned when he was walking around earlier, so it doesn't make a lot of sense for there to still be so many students living their day to day lives here... After all, this room seemed like the only one that wasn't abandoned. And if there were so many students living here, he was bound to have run into some of them, right?
The more he thinks about it, the weirder it all sounds... But before he can finish his train of thought and jump to any possible conclusions, he gets interrupted by Rachel who has finally completed the setup.
"All right! Seems we're all set up! You ready to get your game on, Jayden?"
