Laurence wakes up slowly. He sits up and yawns widely, stretching. His pacifier falls out of his mouth. Promptly, the invisible hands pop the pacifier back into Laurence’s mouth, then whisk him away to the changing station in the bathroom. Laurence lays back, suckling peacefully on his pacifier, as his dirty diaper is changed.
Once he’s put in a fresh diaper, the invisible hands dress him in the T-shirt and shorts from yesterday, then put him in a highchair. Laurence looks around, completely at peace. After everything he’s been through since the dice found him, it’s nice to have someone else do things for him.
The invisible hands feed Laurence a jar of baby food, then give him a bottle of milk. As Laurence guzzles greedily from the bottle, he is lifted into the air and placed in a play pen, in front of the TV. The TV turns on.
“Hello,” says the old man on the TV. “After reviewing your particular case, I’ve determined that it is possible to remove both spells placed upon you with minimal effort. However, I will be unable to do so until the weekend is over. This gives you plenty of time to decide whether you want the spells to be removed or not.”
Laurence blinks in surprise. Why wouldn’t he want the spells removed? He feels a pressure in his bladder. Without thinking about it, he pees, flooding his diaper with warmth.
“Normally, I require a fee for people who choose to keep one or more spells placed upon them, as I have to make arrangements for them or even alter reality.” Laurence finishes his bottle of milk. An invisible hand takes it away, replacing it with his pacifier. “But as it appears that you have been through quite a lot to get here, and the initial spell was from an item mistakenly sent to you, I will be waiving that fee. On Monday, you will be allowed to return to normal, have both spells stay in place on you, or only keep one spell. Enjoy your stay.”
The TV changes to a kids’ cartoon channel. Laurence can barely focus on the colorful characters on screen, however. His mind is racing with the possibilities. Returning to being adult Laura is only a few days away. However, he could stay male, and be adult Laurence. He could also stay as a toddler, either as Laurence or Laura.
The more Laurence thinks about it, the more he can see positives for all options. Being back to normal was, of course, his main goal. But being an adult male was insanely tempting, for one main reason. He’s wanted kids since he was a kid, but the idea of giving birth scares him. As a man, however, he wouldn’t have to do any of the hard work.
And, to his surprise, he finds himself incredibly tempted to stay a toddler, whether as Laurence or Laura. Now that he’s gotten the treatment toddlers normally get, namely, having everything taken care of for him, he rather likes it. Laurence shakes his head, deciding to pay attention to his cartoons. He’ll know what he wants on Monday.
Sure enough, by the time Monday rolls around, Laurence has made his choice.
