A Blue Jeep Is What You Are

added by Zoran 9 months ago I Mental Vehicle

“You are royal-blue,” Greg answers, “before you ask: it was not my choice, Tyler chose the color, hope you don't mind.”

Jeff thinks for a while, then he whispers, “nah, actually, royal-blue is my most favorite color. Your friend has good taste.”

Greg smiles, relieved that his brother does not mind the color he is, “yeah,” he says.

“So,” Jeff whispers, after a some silence, “what now?”

“Well,” Greg says, “the class is almost over, we are about to clean up and leave for home.”

“Good,” Jeff says, “I am starting to become really hungry, since you haven't filled me up with gas on your way here.”

“Um... yeah... about that,” Greg says, “I am running low on cash, you still have enough gas to get us home. So I figured, why waste my money on some expensive gas, when we simply can change you back just in time for dinner?”

Jeff grumbles a little, he really would love to “eat” something now, but he just sighs and says, “okay, fine.”

Greg opens his mouth to respond, when he suddenly feels a hand slam down on his shoulder, causing the 16-year-old to let out a yelp and jump. The teen turns, just to stare at the grinning face of his friend Tyler, “yo, Greg,” he says, “sorry for startling you. I noticed you talking with your Jeep, as if it were human. I knew you were a tad crazy... but I never expected you to be THIS crazy,” the teen says with a laugh.

“Haha... yeah... well... um...,” Greg says, “I... um... kinda talk to myself when I am bored. I then imagine some object to be a living person.”

Tyler raises an eyebrow, “dude... and I thought I WAS weird.”

Greg blushes a little, of course Greg is lying, no one is supposed to know that the Jeep is... was... a living human. Something in Greg tells the boy to better not say anymore, but instead he says, “haha... ye-yeah... I kinda always had this tick, even as a kid I regulary talked with my toys, especially my plush animals.”

Tyler chuckles, “hehe... I guess we all are in some way or another weirdos,” he says, “but, hey... that makes us human.”

Greg smiles, “yeah...,” he says, 'man... that was the most embarrassing story I ever came up with,' he thinks to himself.

“OI, Greg and Tyler,” they then hear the teacher call, “get your lazy arses moving and help clean up the shop.”

Tyler raises a hand, “will do, sir,” he says, he then turns back to Greg, “let's not make Mr. Osborne any more mad. We can continue our conversation while we clean up.”

Greg lets out a sigh, he rather would have wanted to chat with his brother-turned-jeep a little longer, but he figured that it could wait until after the class. So, the boy turns off the radio and takes the keys out of the ignition, Greg then closes and locks the car, sending Jeff into sleep-mode.

Before he loses conscious, the last thought on Jeff's mind is, why his brother told such a story to his friend, risking to be stamped off as a “weirdo” or “crazy”.

Greg grabs a broom, while Tyler grabs some bits and pieces from the floor, “so, what do you think about my choice of color,” Tyler asks.

Greg looks at his “Jeep”, “it does suit him,” he says.

“Him,” Tyler asks with a raised eyebrow, “I thought cars are titled as “she” or “it”.”

“Oh... um,” Greg says, unsure how to reply.

“Never mind,” Tyler says, “she is your car, so you have all right to call her however you want,” he adds with a smile.

Greg smiles back, 'why can't I just see Jeff for what he is,' he asks himself, 'he is not a human at this point, all he is is a ordinary car.'

“I was thinking,” Tyler then says, Greg turns and looks at his friend, who has a thoughtful expression on his face, “what would you say to the idea of some cool lightning bolt design?”

Greg thinks for a while, “I dunno,” he says, “I mean, it certainly would look amazing, but I dunno if it would not be... um... to much?”

Tyler looks at Greg, “well, do you want a standard, boring and normal looking Jeep, OR would you rather have a Jeep that stands out from all the others?”

“I...,” Greg hesitates, he feels so conflicted, one part of him would rather not mess with Jeff anymore, the other part of him though tells him that to forget the Jeep is his brother and simply continue on with the project. How should he choose? What would Jeff say and react if Greg would just simply allow the class to mess with him? But then again, Jeff IS at this point in time Greg's Jeep and school project, so Jeff should for one be fine with what ever they do to him and second not whine and not act up. Jeeps have NO WORD in the matter anyway, so Greg should not worry and not waste his time thinking about how the “CAR” might feel.
