The Chronovac App seemed to have trouble connecting to Jeff, when Greg entered the garage in the morning. But he still could restore Jeff's body from the backup file on the computer. The app was still linked to the computer.
Jeff stood there naked with a dazed look on his face.
"Ma's making birthday pancakes for breakfast. Thought you might like some, Jeff," Greg said.
Jeff turned his head toward Greg, but didn't speak.
"Cmon, Jeff put on your clothes and let's get breakfast," Greg said handing Jeff his clothing.
Jeff blinked at the clothing thrust into his hands. He had no idea how to put it on.
Greg helped him dress. He muttered, "Are you okay, Jeff?"
Jeff answered, "Jeep 4XE VIN 777JP9990002212xe".
"Jeff?"
"It's pronounced Jeep."
Greg guided Jeff into the kitchen. Bill immediately guessed what was wrong.
"You feed Jeff, so he has a full tank. I'll run computer diagnostic program , I'm guessing he got rebooted to factory settings. Hopefully, his personality didn't get deleted. Still it might be better to wait until after your party to try to restore his human memories," Bill said.
Greg noticed that their mother didn't seem the least perturbed that Jeff was acting strangely. He wondered if Bill had used the Chronovac on her? He shrugged. It was probably for the best. For a moment the thought that Bill might have used the Chronovac on Greg crossed his mind. But he dismissed the thought, why would Bill use it on Greg. It wasn't like Greg wasn't pleased to turn his worthless older bro into a valuable vehicle for Greg to drive.
He finished spoonfeeding Jeff his cold pancakes after eating his hot breakfast. Then he escorted Jeep back into the garage, and stripped him. It was then he noticed the brass ring stretching Jeff's balls, it was personalized identically to Jeff's new keychain..
Bill entered, as Jeff reverted to Jeep form.
"Now let's pull up his root memory," Bill said plugging in his tablet. "Hm?"
"Something the matter?"
"Someone plugged in another tablet, ran a diagnostic inventory, deleted the Chronovac and almost of Jeff's personality and memories. Left vocabulary, and some basic stuff. If I can't fix this, you'll have to potty train him," Bill said unhappily.
"You can fix him, right?"
"I think so, but it will take a lot of time. Can't do it before the party though. Which means he won't remember anything after the Chronovac backed up his memories yesterday. You didn't do this?"
"No way, I'm not that computer savvy. Wait maybe Tyler? He said something about optimizing my Jeep's systems yesterday."
"Well, they are definitely optimized. Unfortunately, optimization means deleting all non essential programs and files."
"Jeff isn't a nonessential program."
"Maybe not to you, but you'll find your Jeep responds faster, gets better mileage, and overall runs better with only essential programs running."
"Maybe make Jeff files hidden and inactive except when I need them, or Tyler might erase them again," Greg said thoughtfully.
"Might be a good idea?" Bill said uncertainly. Then he added, "Well, Jeff can wait. We need to get ready for your birthday party."
