"There's only one thing we can do." says Mitch "We have to face Coyote."
"Are you crazy?!" shouts Dale "Coyote's a GOD! We don't have the power to stand up to him!"
"Exactly." Mitch looks serious "Coyote brought us into this alternate universe for whatever reasons, and only he can let us out. Even if we cast spells for gates, do you really think he'd let us go so easily?"
Dale frowns, but can't argue against his friend's logic. "But what if he decides to do something to us?"
"We wouldn't be able to stop it anyway." Mitch answers sadly. "Sooner or later Coyote's going to get tired of this and do something else."
Alan looks thoughtful "True, but even being a trickster, Coyote CAN be tricked. There are many ledgends about it. Plus he's not entirely evil. I think I could make a good plea for us when we meet him."
"Well, then" Says Stacy "I guess we know what to do."
he foursome head out toDr. C's office, the three dogs each knowing that this might very well be the last thing they do.
"It was nice having you guys as friends." says Alan as they round the corner to the office.
"Yeah." agrees Mitch.
Dale tries to be optomistic "Let's not give up hope too soon guys."
Finally they reach Dr. C's door.
"Ut-oh." says Stacy.
"What is it?" asks Mitch anxiously.
"Coyote's gone to the dance." she hands the group a piece of paper that reads:
'If anyone would like to see me I will be at the dance.
-Dr. C'
"Well that's just great!" says Dale "We can't go to the dance!"
"Why not?" asks Alan, who is hoping to dance with this world's Stacy.
"Well - me and Mitch - we aren't - you know..."
"But you are on this world." says Stacy "Or your counterparts are anyway. You can't go to the dance with female partners that'd give you away."
"On the other hand" says Mitch, trying to stay calm "we could still go together, but not dance. I mean we're going to have to find Coyote. If people question why we aren't more intimate we could just say we had a lover's quarrel or something."
"I don't like it." says Dale. "Why don't we just wait here until after the dance?"
"There's no guaranting that Coyote will come back here after the dance." says Stacy. "It's his office not his house."
"And I wouldn't mind going." says Alan, looking at Stacy.
"I don't think we should split up." says Mitch "It's too likely that Coyote might do something wierd. We either all wait for him to come back or all go to the dance."
He knows what Mitch says is probably right; they will either find Coyote as a group or not at all. He is uncomfortable with the idea of being seen as Mitche's boyfriend, however. There is somthing els bothering him too "We wouldn't be safe going to the dance." he says at last "We could make too many mistakes."
"Not really." says Stacy "From what I've seen of you three you are very much like our Mitch, Alan, and Dale - with one obvious exception. I could probably brief you on how this world works before we go." she is noticably looking at Alan, who has started to pant at her.
"I'll let it up to you Dale." says Mitch finally.
Dale doesn't want to go to the dance, but doesn't want to spoil things for Alan either.
