Soon, the fairy with the tiara turned around and spoke. “We have decided to allow you to leave. Most of your kind will not believe you anyway if you speak of us, nor might you ever find us again.” She then tapped her wand on your forehead and a swirl of magic caused you to grow back into your original size.
“Thank you, and I’m sorry for causing such an inconvenience.” Just as you start to turn away from the fairies, you remember something. “Um, can I ask you a favor miss… uh?”
“Princess Chrysanthemum Silverwing.” The fairy with the tiara said. “Speak your request.”
“The reason I wandered here is that I’m lost. I still don’t know my way back to my campsite, and my friend must be worried. Can you help me out?”
“Very well, I shall provide an escort.” Chrysanthemum turned to the group of fairies. “Daffodil?” A fairy with a bright yellow gown stepped forward. “You know these woods better than even I; you shall escort the human back to the humans’ camping grounds.”
“Yes, your highness.” Daffodil fluttered in front of you and waved her wand around her body. In a short time, her wings retreated into her back, her ears rounded out, her body started growing to human size and her gown morphed into jeans, a tee shirt and hiking boots. “Follow me.”
As Daffodil led you through the forest, a thought persisted in the back of your mind. “So, if fairies can turn into humans, why didn’t you do so in the clearing?”
“We do not disguise ourselves to celebrate the full moon. Besides, we usually put up a protective spell so no one would notice us. Lilac was supposed to do that. She can be a little dense sometimes,” Daffodil sighed amorously, “but she’s still a wonderful girlfriend.” You acknowledge her admission, but decide not to ask any follow up questions.
Soon Daffodil leads you to the edge of the woods where your campsite sits. “Is this it?” She asks.
“Yes,” you say, “but I want to know something. Is it possible to turn a human… or two… into a fairy?”
Daffodil paused a moment before saying, “Yes, it is. You want us to turn you and your friend into fairies?”
“If my friend agrees, will you take us back and ask Chrysanthemum to transform us?”
“I will, but you must be absolutely sure about this. Once you become fairies, you’re fairies forever.”
“I understand.” You say as you lead Daffodil to your tent. You open it up and enter, to find your friend, sound asleep.
