Ethan was feeling fully rested now, and the curiosity of his new abilities was too much to resist. He had changed himself. Now he wanted ot try the book's spells on others.
He decided to try something small first. After watching shoppers walk by for a few minutes, he saw a workman carrying a ladder - one of the mall employees off to replace a lightbulb or something. The guy was not much older than Ethan had been before he changed himself, probably late twenties. His brown hair was already thinning, and he had a slight belly from too much beer.
Ethan opened the book and rechecked he spell, then whispred 'Regress' as he concentrated on the workman. For a moment, he thought it hadn't worked. Then the area around the workman seemed to blur as the air filled with mist. The effect was short and faded almost immediately, but the workman was now obviously a much younger man. Ethan had tried for 5 years, making the guy in his early 20s. His hair was full and thick, his belly was gone, and he seemed to have a lot more energy. No one noticed the change, and though his uniform hung a bit loose now, it fit well enough not to look out of place.
Ethan grinned as the worker strode off with his ladder. That was easy, and he had hardly felt the energy drain. What else could he do?
