"Quickly...tell me your name!" the fairy tells you. You're confused by the request, but the urgency of her voice and her general experience with the world you find yourself trapped in cause you to trust that she must have a good reason for wanting to know. Still she said that names have power here, and you wonder if it's wise to tell her. You look at her, hands wringing as she bites her lip nervously. She seems genuinely worried, plus she's been nothing but honest with you up to this point, or so it would seem. You decide you'd best tell her.
"Irisette." you say to her. She gasps a little and you don't catch on at first, but you realize that that isn't your name.
"No, that's not it it's Iris...Ir...." you stammer a bit and think for a moment. It's as though you're trying to recall the name of an actor whose name you forgot in a movie you'd seen over five years ago. You feel like you should know this, but it's just not coming to you. You laugh a bit "This is ridiculous, I mean I know my own name it's..." you say but all you can come up with is Irisette MoonGlow. "It's not Irisette Moonglow." you say and begin feeling nervous yourself.
"Yes, I'm afraid it is." she says to you and holds your hands in hers "You're becoming a fairy." You simply stare at her for a moment, unsure of how to respond. You feel disturbed by this information, but that's all. You should feel angry, scared or any combination of those, but all you can conjure up is a vague feeling of uneasiness. What's more disturbing is the fact that part of you feels somewhat curious about the idea. You try and push that feeling down, and with a few deep breaths you manage to keep it from growing, but that's as far as it goes. You her in the eyes as she takes one hand and runs it through your hair, you can see a single gleam through your peripheral vision.
"...and it's going to happen even faster now that you've forgotten your name." she says with a sad and somewhat resigned look on her face.
"But how?" you ask
"Dream sharing." she says and tucks your hair behind your ears, you can tell as she does that your ears have gotten somewhat larger and have grown into points. "I pulled you into my dream, I'm sorry I didn't mean to, it's just that..." she says and trails off "...well anyway sometimes this can result in humans becoming fairies, or perhaps it's just that you've spent to long in this world." she looks into your eyes, there is sadness there, but a sense of resignation with a slight look of longing in her eyes.
"Isn't there something we can do?" you ask
