Stonewood Male Dormitory

Connor meets Kevin the Chair

added by TalkingChair 9 years ago I

“Oh, sorry it’s Connor.” Connor felt embarrassed it was rude staring like that, he was just a bit taken back he didn’t expect to see another inanimate shapeshifted at this school.

“What year are you Connor?” The chair asked.

“Oh, I am a transfer student, I will be starting my Junior Year here.”

“Oh cool, a lower classmen, I still have rank over you,” the chair chuckled, “its my Senior Year for me. I been here all four years.” The chair slowly shook a bit then started walking with its four legs, much like a small horse or dog. The chair walked around Connor, “that is my desk by the way but I am more than happy to share. You are lucky, since you have me as a roomie you don’t have to worry about buying another chair,” the chair winked.

Connor was still a bit shocked. “Sorry,” the chair rubbed the back of his seat with his back leg awkwardly, “I guess you never seen an Inanimorph before?” Connor slightly nodded. “Ah, well I guess a little bit about my back story. I actually been in this default form since a little hex accident in Charms Class back in freshman year. For our mid-terms we all had to transform into an assigned object, I was given a chair to transform into. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to turn back right away and the janitor mistaking me for one of the school’s chairs and stacked me up with the others and stored me in the closet. However since I was stacked between chairs I could not turn back to human form without being crushed, and it was during Winter Break so I wasn’t taken out again until the second semester. By then I was in this form for over a month and somewhat trapped this way.”

“I actually fell into a weird sleep and was woken up when the janitor branded me with the seal of the school.” The chair turned around and revealed the wood burnt with the school seal and the words: Property of Stonewood Dormitory. “Well luckily once the headmaster found out they got me into the hospital, and luckily they decided despite the branding as a sentient being they could not own me even though I was a chair. However by that point I been in this form for so long I could not transform back to human form without some extra spells. Every day for the next semester my roommate would have to cast a human transformation spell on me which would last for six hours at a time. However I eventually decided it would be easier to have a one time coming to life spell casted on me so I can move in this chair form without needed to be dependent on a daily human transformation spell.”

The chair paused then continued, “but I don’t mind, in fact I love this form. I actually feel more like this is my natural body than a human form, though I do occasionally have to take human form for special events and when I head into town. Normal humans would freak out if they saw a walking and talking chair. The good news is I don’t have to really worry about food in this form, and no longer have to worry about sleeping in beds, any corner will do for me.”

Connor nodded, that’s why they squeezed three people into this two person room. Connor felt a little better knowing people like Kevin existed. Suddenly the bell rang. It was time for all students to go to pre-school orientation.

“Ah, that’s the bell, as a transfer student you need to be at the orientation,” said Kevin the chair. “And I need meet our new soccer players.”

“Soccer?” Connor was a little confused with why a chair would be involved with soccer.

“Yeah, don’t you know? I am the team captain of the school’s Soccer Team.” The face on Kevin’s seat winked at Connor. “Since I am basically all legs, I actually make for a pretty decent soccer player.” Kevin started to walk towards the closet. “Though I am going to need to ask for your help.” Connor nodded. “Do you see the tie in the closet Connor? Could you grab it for me and pin it on my rim of my seat?”

Connor did so. Kevin chucked a bit, “yeah even in chair form I still need to comply with the dress code, they need me to wear my house tie whenever I am out of the room, I guess it does help give visual aid so I am not confused for a regular chair. It does prevent people from sitting on me… well mostly. When I first was a chair I hated people sitting on my face, though now I have gotten used to tolerating it, but I still admit I prefer it not to happen. Now that I am a senior and soccer captain most people respect that, it was only the previous year’s seniors who mostly would haze and prank me.”

Connor finished using a tack to pin the tie on the wooden chair, it was a very strange experience for him. Kevin then reached one of his chair legs in the closet and grabbed what appeared to be glasses and put them on. “You know funny thing, even as a chair my vision is still just as bad as in my human form, I sometimes need glasses in class to read the lecture notes. That’s also why I hate when people sit on me without looking, I can’t begin to tell you how many glasses were crushed because someone sat down without looking.” Kevin walked towards the door way and said, “enjoy orientation and welcome to Stonewood roomie.”
